Terri Sunflower

Singer songwriter For the Sensitive soul

I have lived in the mountains of western New Mexico for about 15 years now and it is here that I have grown into who I am as an artist and as a sensitive human. And I believe those two aspects of me...singer/storyteller and sensitive caring human are what comes through in my music.  Maybe that is just another way to say folk music though. I just finished recording my first album which was released on June 21, 2019. It is an EP I made with producer Zak Sloan at Sloan Song Studios and I am absolutely thrilled with how it has turned out.

Music has always been the healing balm in my life. I started out playing my parents records from the 50’s and 60’s, dabbled in singing in church and come from a bluegrass family of 4 uncles that played their entire lives. I wanted to be a country singer when I was 12 but I went into a different direction as a young adult and became a nurse (for 30 years) as I raised a family and navigated adulting. But music has always been the thing that lit me up. I started singing with a local group we playfully called The Tuesday Night Music Club and that is when I knew I had to learn to play the guitar...something I wanted to learn my whole life. Songwriting is my jam though. I have been writing since 2002 and love to tell stories through song that can connect, inspire and convey the feelings of belonging just as I am, right where I am in hopes that others will feel and know their own belonging.

I attended the Rocky Mountain Song School last summer and found my tribe on the Planet (Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, CO) with an amazing group of the most talented songwriters I could ever find myself surrounded by. Their enthusiasm to the craft and encouragement for all songwriters to “get out there and do your thing as only you can” was my biggest inspiration for wanting to continue, push through any trepidation and go for it!

Right now I am basking in the afterglow of releasing my album, having a super fun and successful CD release party and getting my first paid gig!

I will be playing my first festival...Pie Fest in none other than Pie Town, NM on September 14th in Jackson park!

I would love it if you would help fan my flame by listening, sharing, signing up for my mailing list to get the very latest info on all these happenings!
